Matanuska Glacier is approximately 100 miles northeast of Anchorage. That’s about a two-hour drive one way.

Upon arrival, you’ll meet your glacier guide, a trained, passionate expert who lives and breathes this place, and gear up with everything you need for the trek: microspikes and helmets where required. This gear is provided. All you need are stiff-soled hiking boots and a willingness to step somewhere remarkable.

The guided glacier trek lasts two hours with small groups to keep the experience personal, safe, and genuinely exploratory. No two treks are exactly alike. • The glacier trek is a moderate physical experience. Guests should be able to walk and stand independently for 2-3 hours and be comfortable navigating uneven terrain. The elevation gain is roughly equivalent to climbing 3–4 flights of stairs. Minimum age is 12 years.
