Join us for an unforgettable journey to the breathtaking Matanuska Glacier! Your adventure begins at the William A. Egan Civic & Convention Center in downtown Anchorage, where you’ll board our comfortable tour van for a scenic two-hour drive north to the glacier. Along the way, you’ll enjoy beautiful Alaskan views and commentary from your guide.
Once we arrive at the glacier, you’ll meet up with our experienced glacier guides, who will lead you on a two-hour exploration of the glacier’s incredible features. These expert guides are highly trained in glacier trekking and will ensure a safe and informative experience as you hike across ancient ice, learning about the glacier’s history and its stunning impact on the surrounding landscape. This moderate trek requires good balance, sturdy knees, and proper footwear, as the elevation gain is equivalent to climbing 3-4 flights of stairs.
We’ll provide you with all the necessary glacier gear, including helmets (if needed) and microspikes to attach to your shoes. Please bring stiff-soled hiking boots (or pack boots rated to -20°F in winter).
After your glacier trek, warm up with a hearty lunch and hot drinks at a nearby lodge, offering stunning views of the glacier. Snacks and water will also be provided in the van throughout the trip.
Conclude the day with a comfortable ride back to Anchorage, with drop-off available at major hotels in downtown Anchorage.
Glacier guides are passionate professionals who dedicate themselves to providing a safe, informative, and memorable experience on the ice. Unlike hourly employees, they are independent experts who work solely on tips, relying on the generosity of guests to support their work.
