Experience Alaska’s Iconic Wildlife and Wilderness on a Day Tour from Anchorage

Anchorage is filled with amazing sights and experiences, but any Alaskan adventure should also immerse you in our state’s breathtaking landscapes and world-famous wildlife. Fortunately, our home city is a gateway to the great outdoors!  This is where our day tours from Anchorage comes in!

The meeting point for our Half-Day Anchorage Wildlife Tour is The Kobuk (504 W 5th Ave, Anchorage, 99501). Here, we hop in our comfortable, air-conditioned van and hit the scenic Seward Highway. This All-American road is widely recognized as one of the best driving routes in the world thanks to the breathtaking scenery it passes through. As we head southeast out of Anchorage, expect to see dramatic landscapes featuring mountains, forests, and waterways — a quintessential Alaskan backdrop.

The Seward Highway leads us to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, a refuge for sick, injured, and orphaned animals. The spacious enclosures here give these creatures the space and time they need to heal, helped by the outstanding care of the staff. Admission to the AWCC is included in your tour price, and the money raised from our entry helps to support ongoing conservation efforts.

On our visit, you can witness some of Alaska’s most famous wildlife, including cow moose, wood bison, bears, and more. But the scenery surrounding the stunning site, which covers more than 200 acres, is simply spectacular. Jaw-dropping vistas of the Chugach Mountain Range and Turnagain Arm Inlet surround this spot near Portage Valley!

We included the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center in our picks for the best family-friendly attractions in Anchorage, AK! Be sure to check them out when you have finished here.

But there’s even more wildlife-watching to enjoy on the Half-Day Anchorage Wildlife Tour with Lunch! We also stop at some prime locations for animal encounters.
