The Only Anchorage Tour Guides Offering Food-Centered Experiences

In 2021, brothers Dan and Chris Morris launched Alaskan Sights & Bites with a vision: to establish the sole tour operator in Anchorage, Alaska, focused on culinary adventures. In its early days, Alaskan Sights & Bites’ range of guided Anchorage tours consisted exclusively of walks in the city; however, the acquisition of passenger vans in 2024 enabled a significant expansion of their tour offerings.

The Alaskan Sights & Bites story is rooted in travel. Long ago, and at different times, both Dan and Chris embarked on solo journeys, leaving Alaska to explore the world. These adventures were filled with unique destinations, delectable cuisine, and encounters with remarkable people.

Travel ignited their passion to create Alaskan Sights & Bites. They wanted to share their home with travelers, just as others had shared theirs with them. Alaska is renowned for its distinct culture, natural beauty, delicious food, and, most importantly, its exceptional hospitality; all of this and more lies at the heart of the unforgettable experiences they create for your vacation.

Dan and Chris are dedicated to showcasing the local side of Anchorage. This means savoring locally sourced fare at the best establishments and discovering hidden gems that most tourists would otherwise miss.

  • Prioritize Unforgettable Experiences: Provide an immersive, entertaining, and educational experience for guests, ensuring they leave with full stomachs and enriched minds. Craft memories that will last a lifetime, capturing the essence of their time in Alaska through laughter, learning, and delectable flavors.
  • Cultivate a Supportive Environment: Foster a supportive and respectful work environment where employees are treated with dignity, paid a living wage, and encouraged to maintain a healthy work-life balance. Build a culture of collaboration and open communication, where every team member is valued and empowered to contribute to the success of the business.
  • Cherish Our Roots: Recognize that our brotherhood, family, and friends are the backbone of our success and integral to the growth of our business. Chris and Dan, the founding brothers, are grateful for the unwavering support of their parents, Roger and Diane Morris, Chris’s wife, Sully, and their loyal canine companions, Tayrona and Taroko.
  • Uphold Our Values: Conduct business with integrity, empathy, and compassion, while giving back to the community and state we love. As true Alaskans, we remain committed to promoting kindness, ethical practices, and social responsibility in all we do.
  • Nurture Partnerships: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with local partners, understanding their individual stories and contributions to the community. Collaborate to create a memorable and authentic Alaskan experience for our guests, showcasing their expertise, passion, and dedication to quality.
  • Enrich Through Storytelling: Engage guests with captivating stories and comedy that weave together the history, people, and flavors of Alaska. Make them laugh, cry, and feel connected to the community and its heritage.
  • Create an Inclusive Atmosphere: Actively seek to understand and appreciate the diverse backgrounds of guests, employees, and partners. Encourage equal opportunities for all, promote open dialogue, and foster an inclusive environment that makes everyone feel valued and respected, regardless of their race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, political affiliation, age, identity, or any other characteristic.
  • Celebrate Local Flavor: Showcase the best of Alaska’s culinary scene by partnering with locally-owned and operated restaurants, eateries, food trucks, street vendors, and bars. Highlight unique dishes sourced from Alaska or with interesting stories rooted in the state’s history and culture.

Shannon Brion

While Shannon Brion currently lives in a city in the lower 48, she is originally from rural Alaska. She grew up in an area with a population of 30, within a 400 square mile range. Being a third-generation Alaskan, she has always been enamored by stories passed down through her family members.

She is currently working towards solo hiking the Appalachian Trail. Any given weekend, you can find her backpacking in a variety of locations from the Ozarks to Alaska’s own Chugach Range. “Our history shapes what we become. This is evident in the formation of Anchorage, and I’d love to share with you the people, events, and stories that influenced the greatest city in the Last Frontier.”
